In this episode of ‘Karma Is Supreme’ we shall listen to the meaning of the verse,
The Lamp of The Body Is The Eye or as stated in the Bible-
‘The light of the body is the eye. If therefore, thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light.’
The Lamp of The Body Is The Eye
The light of the body is the Eye, if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light.
Further the Bible states,
‘that was the True Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world.’
The Lord is not biased so as to put that
light only in certain people of this world or only in the followers of a certain religion,
‘the True Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world.’
The light is put in each one of us irrespective of our religion, color, caste, or nationality.
And this light does not need a candle to be lit.
It’s always present in each one of us. It is only a matter of realization that
some of us may know this presence of light and some of us may not.
This light that we see within ourselves with the
inner eye or the single eye is the light of our own soul.
And the soul is of the same essence as that of the Divine Light; The light of God.
It is the soul which is a part of this Divine Light and gives life to us human beings.
When a person dies, it is this soul that separates from the body
and so we say that person has died.
This whole world contains this light.
‘if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light’.
Now, if we understand this literally, the two eyes cannot become single.
Here, the single eye that is referred to in the Bible is the third eye.
The light which Christ is referring to is at the eye center. Then why are we unable to see this light?
Saint John says,’ you cannot see The Light Within you unless you were
able to eliminate the veil of Darkness’.
Now, what is this veil of darkness?
See we all human beings are made of mind, body, and soul.
And the mind and soul are knotted together at the eye center.
So unless we are able to still this mind at the eye center,
we are unable to see the Light within ourselves.
Our mind is at the level of the senses,
It is attached to the creation. So we are unable to experience this light and we remain in the darkness of illusion.
We are attached to the worldly faces, to wordly objects, to sensual pleasures.
And unless the mind is able to get better pleasures than those of the senses, it refuses to leave these pleasures.
For example,
Say you have silver coins with you and somebody comes and asks you that you give it to them.
Would you give it? No.
But then they offer you gold coins in return that have much higher value, would you then give?
Of course, you would.
This is because you have been given something better. Something more.
Similarly, unless the mind gets a better pleasure than the sensual pleasures, it is unable
to leave the sensual pleasures.
And this better pleasure is ‘experiencing the Divine Light within’
And, as I always say –
‘The experience has the power to change you, not the knowledge’.
Even Google has all the knowledge you see 😉
